With a population of about 50,000, the city of Tigard, located just south of Portland in southeastern Washington County, is home to a variety of parks, a strong school system, and several premier shopping destinations.
 
Situated on the banks of the Tualatin River, Tigard is a great spot for outdoor recreation, offering access to a range of bike and pedestrian trails as well as several wetlands and ponds, an oak forest, and the flowered landscape of the Tupling Butterfly Garden.
 
This community is also devoted to the arts and is home to the Broadway Rose Theatre Company, the only professional musical theater company in the region.
 
A historic and walkable downtown offers unique shopping, eating, and drinking establishments, and annual summer events like the Tigard Festival of Balloons attract visitors regularly. The John Tigard House, a restored 1880 Queen Anne home, serves as the town museum.

Cook Park
A 79-acre riverside park on the banks of the Tualatin River is the largest park in town and a popular destination for sports and family picnics. Here you’ll also find a boat ramp, wetlands, wooded areas, and a butterfly garden. 
 
Festival of Balloons
This yearly hot air balloon event is an all-day affair featuring a pre-dawn morning launch, afternoon shopping at the craft and vendor booths, lunch and snacks from local food vendors, and thrilling carnival rides and games. 
 
Fanno Creek Trail
Fanno Creek Trail is a regional trail that extends from Tualatin to Portland, passing through Tigard, Beaverton, and unincorporated Washington County. You’ll find a paved, multi-use pathway for walkers, runners, bicyclists, and nature enthusiasts here.
 
King City Golf Course
This nine-hole executive public golf course is nestled among cozy homes in the hamlet of King City. Built in 1966 as one of the many amenities for this 55+ retirement community, the grounds are enjoyed by both residents and non-residents alike.

The Tigard-Tualatin School District serves part of the suburban Portland metropolitan area in Oregon, including the cities of Tigard, Tualatin, Durham, and King City, as well as the unincorporated communities of Metzger and Bull Mountain.
